I made up the dumb word lurp, and it was derived from the word "lurk" which has the idea of sneaking or hiding in a dark place. Lurp has the connotation that one is standing around with no purpose. Some of my students used to lurp around my desk. When I asked them what they needed they said "Nothing" and just kept standing there...that is lurping!!
